Tampa's Weatherford Capital portfolio company gets $100M investment

PayIt, a portfolio company of Tampa’s Weatherford Capital, has received a more than $100 million investment that will allow it to continue expanding its footprint and product capabilities.

InSight Partners, a New York-based venture capital and private equity firm, had previously invested in PayIt in 2016.

PayIt, based in Kansas City, has a platform that lets users pay for state and local services such as the Department of Motor Vehicles, permits and licensing, turnpike passes, income tax, traffic citations and more. Its cloud-based solutions are built specifically for the public sector.

Tampa investment firm backs huge marinas deal

A fund managed by Weatherford Partners, the private equity firm run by former Florida House Speaker Will Weatherford and his family, was one of two funds that invested in what is now the largest owner and operator of marinas in the world.

Weatherford Partners, based in Tampa, and Guggenheim Partners, headquartered in Chicago and New York, backed Safe Harbor Marinas, a Dallas company that just acquired Brewer Yacht Yard Group for an undisclosed price. After the deal, Safe Harbor has 63 properties housing more than 30,000 members’ boats, a press release said.

Weatherford Partners raises millions for health care investment

The Tampa investment firm founded by former Florida House Speaker Will Weatherford has raised $7 million for two funds focused on healthcare.

Weatherford Healthcare I LLC raised $2 million in an equity offering in March, and Weatherford Healthcare II LLC raised $5 million in an equity offering in April, according to filings earlier this week with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Will Weatherford investment firm makes splash with first public deal

Weatherford Partners, the private equity firm created by former Florida House Speaker Will Weatherford and his two brothers, on Tuesday announced their first public deal, contributing to a $4.5 million funding round for a Missouri company.

Weatherford’s firm invested in the Kansas City-based PayIt, which produces mobile apps for governments so people can pay for things such as licenses, taxes and traffic citations online.

Weatherford Partners’ specific part of the funding round was not disclosed. Other investors were Advantage Capital PartnersRoyal Street Ventures and Missouri Technology Corp.
